The family of missing American woman Amy Bradley have spoken out about a disturbing new lead in her decades-long disappearance, which they say has emerged in the wake of a hit Netflix documentary that has renewed public interest in the case.

Bradley vanished in March 1998 while on a Royal Caribbean cruise with her family, and despite numerous alleged sightings over the years, no trace of her has ever been conclusively found. She was 23 years old at the time, last seen by her brother in the early hours of the morning sitting on the balcony of their cabin. Hours later, the ship docked in Curaçao, where her family believes she may have been trafficked.

The case has been thrust back into the spotlight following the release of Amy Bradley Is Missing on Netflix. The documentary explores long-held theories, including a set of 2005 photographs from a Caribbean sex worker website that the Bradley family has always believed depicted Amy. That lead was investigated by the FBI, with a forensic analyst reportedly concluding the woman in the photos could very well be her. However, the agency was ultimately unable to trace the source and the trail went cold.

Now, according to filmmaker Ari Mark, the Netflix documentary has generated a wave of fresh information from viewers around the world. Speaking to US media, Mark confirmed that a number of tips have been submitted since the series aired, though none have yet been verified. “We have had a few leads come in, but I can’t discuss them… they may very likely be false,” he said, adding that the goal was to “activate” the audience to help find Amy.

Bradley’s brother Brad has since revealed that one particular account has shaken the family. In an interview with TMZ, he said they had been “overwhelmed” by the public response, with thousands of emails and calls pouring in. Most have included vague information or unverified sightings, but one man claimed he had purchased a woman for sex whom he believed to be Amy — and was able to describe distinctive tattoos she had in detail. While some of this information exists on the FBI’s missing person profile, Brad says the description was specific enough to convince the family it could be credible.

This would not be the first time that a possible link between Amy and sex work in the Caribbean has been suggested. In 2005, the family was sent the now-infamous photos of a woman they were certain was her, sparking a flurry of media attention and a renewed FBI investigation. There have also been accounts from US Navy personnel claiming to have met a woman in Curaçao identifying herself as “Amy” and asking for help, though these claims have never been verified.

Speaking about the latest wave of interest, Brad said the family has volunteers working around the clock to filter incoming tips and decide which ones warrant further investigation. “We’re hopeful,” he told TMZ. “Some of the new tips could blow the case wide open, but it’s too early to say. Thanks to Netflix, we feel like we have another shot.”

The Bradley family’s fight for answers has endured numerous heartbreaks over the years, including being defrauded by Frank Jones, a man who claimed to be a former US Navy SEAL capable of rescuing Amy. Jones extracted more than $200,000 from the family and donors before being exposed as a fraud and jailed in 2002. That ordeal — left out of the Netflix series — remains one of the most painful chapters in their search.

Despite the setbacks, the family remains convinced that Amy could still be alive and are urging anyone with genuine information to come forward. For them, every potential lead, no matter how remote, is worth investigating.
